A millennial online party game that gets it right

Every generational joke is written by somebody who is not in that generation. This online card game is about the specific texture instead: the apartment viewing with fourteen other people, the manager who says the door is always open, the group chat that peaked in 2016, the savings goal that moves every year.

It plays best with people who have lived the same decade, which is why it works so well at a house party, a birthday, or a reunion where everyone quietly compares salaries.

What a round looks like

One player is the judge. Everyone else gets a prompt on their screen and selects the best card in their hand to match the prompt. The judge reads the submissions out loud and picks their favorite. The person who played that card gets a point. Then the judge role moves to the next player and you go again.

Prompt

What ruined the apartment share?

Three answers in

A deposit I will never see again
My landlord's brother, doing the repairs
A rent increase disguised as an upgrade
Crown this one

The winner takes the point and the judge role moves to the next player. The full rules cover scoring, bots and pass and play.

Playing it at a house party

Three to eight players, ten minutes to about an hour. Everyone joins the same room code, so it works around a table or spread across a video call with the friends who moved away.

Nothing to download, no accounts, and the host can add bots if the group is small.

Real cards from the virtual deck

Every pack holds hundreds of cards, so the prompts and answers keep landing in combinations nobody saw coming. Mix packs together and there is more than enough for a whole night without the deck ever repeating itself.

Prompt

My retirement plan is basically

A 401(k) worth $600
A Beanie Baby retirement fund
Pogs as currency
Student loans

Each game has an option of 5, 10 and 15 rotations.

When to play the millennial party game

Written for people who remember the group chat peaking. These are the rooms it lands in.

House party or a birthday A group in their thirties who all recognise the same specific misery. Rent, therapy homework, a career that turned out to be a series of jobs.
Housewarming For the condo somebody finally bought or the third rental this year. Everyone has an opinion about deposits.
Night in with the group chat The people who have known each other since university and communicate mostly in screenshots.
Reunion or a catch up Friends who see each other twice a year and need something other than career updates.
Pre drinks Two rounds before the taxi. Fast enough that nobody misses the booking.
Virtual catch up Everyone moved to a different city. Join the same room code and play it over a call.

Millennial, explicit only

This pack comes in the Explicit version only. Adult humor, no filter, written for a table of grown adults with the door shut.

There is no card limit and nothing to download. The base game is always free to play, so you can get a table going tonight and add this pack whenever you want it. See the other games or read how to play.
